Canoe Creek State Park
While I’m in Pennsylvania for the next two months, I thought I’d try as many walking trails as I could as I wind through the Keystone state. Trail number nine is the Canoe Creek Around the Lake Trail.
I found this trail on the AllTrails app. What I didn’t realize was that this was a conglomeration of several trails. There are a many trails in the area around the lake and this trail uses parts of at least three.
One of the enjoyable parts of the loop is the many creek crossings incorporating wooden and steel bridges. There are also several “beaver ponds” along the eastern bank.
My favorite portion of the trail was along the southern side of the lake. Here the trail became noticeably steeper and there were several steep drop offs to the lake. Fall is certainly the season to hike this trail. No insects were obvious and the leaves from the large concentration of hardwoods along the lake were simply beautiful.
