The National Civil War Museum
I’m currently listening to the 128 hour audio version of Shelby Foote’s The Civil War - A Narrative. So, of course I had to stop at the National Civil War Museum in Harrisburg Pennsylvania. I held a pipeline program in Harrisburg, so I went a few hours early and walked through.
The museum is housed on two stories. The exhibits lead you on a journey from slavery and the conditions that precipitated the start of the war, through the political and international ramifications, artifacts used in it’s propagation, and finally the wars ending and the work still left unfinished. One of the exhibits displays the only surviving ambulance from the war.
Very powerful stuff.
